I periodically offer workshops out of my studio, and courses through institutions around the San Francisco Bay Area. My schedule is constantly in flux, so if you don't see what you're looking for, check back later. You can also get yourself on my mailing list.
My most recent courses were offered through The Crucible in Oakland, CA.:
Artists and experimenters: test new ideas and experiment with computer-controlled, interactive and robotic machines on a budget by repurposing interactive toys as rapid-prototyping and experimental platforms; the result can be useful brainstorming and prototyping tools, or with extra attention to formal issues, artworks in their own right. An intermediate course, but open to enthusiastic beginners too.
See the Toy Hacking page for full specs.
The first in a series of courses based on complete interactive systems. Build a robotic sculpture with eerily lifelike behavior. Learn a variety of sensing, control, hardware and software techniques. An intermediate course, but open to enthusiastic beginners too.
See the Build This Sculpture page for full specs.
I will be adding two new weekend two-day intensive play and construction sessions in the first quarter. Please subscribe to my mailing list if you want to be kept informed!
